W Magazine just released some behind the scenes photos for Moonrise Kingdom. I had kind of forgotten about its May 25th release date since it snuck up so crazy fast (um, it's almost the end of May! What?!). Well, turns out it is a limited release and isn't playing anywhere near me. It'll be another whole month until the full release (June 29th), but I'm sure it will be here in no time!

Film Fest Vol. 8 (Another TV Edition)

TV Edition: Mad Men

I know I'm late to the game, but I just finished Mad Men on Netflix! Wow! It took me a little bit to get into it, but once I did I was hooked. All of the design and costumes are fantastic, those combined with lots of drama make for a pretty great show! Now it'll just be a bummer to have to wait for the new season to come out.

The dress Joan is wearing above really reminds me of this one that I have in my shop right now. As I was looking through photos from the show I came across several of the stars at events, it is so weird to see them in modern clothes after only knowing them throughout the 60's!

YESSSS! Finally, the trailer for Moonrise Kingdom was released! I am so excited for this, it looks so good! But no Owen Wilson? That is a Wes Anderson first... weird. It's okay though, it'll be awesome, I'm sure. 

This totally could have been part of yesterday's Top Ten post, but I thought it deserved a post all to itself. 

Film Fest Vol. 7 Christmas Edition

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is watching all of my favorite Christmas movies. This is the first year in a while that I haven't been working at Blockbuster. Even though I was only working there part time I would always find a way to squeeze 3 or 4 of my favorite holiday movies into my one shift each week. So, this year it's kind of a bummer to not have such easy access all of these movies (come on Netflix!)

These 4 have to be my all time favorites and so far we've only watched Home Alone, hopefully we'll find time for a couple more before Christmas! I really haven't seen many classics (I still have never seen It's A Wonderful Life), maybe next year!

Arrested Development

It's finally happening! It was just announced last week that Arrested Development will return for a fourth season and then a movie! I recently re-watched the series on Netflix. I finished on Friday and the show's creator Mitchell Hurwitz made the announced the big news on Sunday. Perfect timing! 

I am so excited! Arrested Development has got to be the best written, best acted, most clever and hilarious show that I know of! I had planned to include more images in this post, but got a little overwhelmed by just how hilarious this tumblr is. I may have giggled my way through the entire blog instead.

I also just read that Jason Bateman described the show to be "The Royal Tenenbaums shot like Cops" which is the best description ever!

Come on 2013, I need more Arrested Development!

Film Fest Vol. 6 TV Edition

United States of Tara

United States of Tara is such a great show filled with drama, laughs here and there and so much craziness. Toni Collette plays Tara Gregson, a woman suffering from dissociative identity disorder dealing with her disease day to day. 

Tara's original alters include Buck the badass Vietnam vet, Alice the 50's housewife and T the wild teen. Some of the others she picks up throughout the series include a therapist, an animal-like personality and a child among a couple others. It's always interesting to see what they get Tara into.  

I just finished season 3 and was so excited for season 4. I went to check and see when it was starting, but instead found out that the show has been canceled. I have read a little bit about how ratings have been down recently and how people just didn't think the show was funny. But really, this show isn't funny. It's not supposed to be, at least not directly. Even though I'm a little bummed that it has ended at least the season came to a fair and reasonable ending, no cliffhangers!

Ah! I am so excited for this one! I LOVE Paul Rudd and it looks hilarious!

Plus Zooey Deschanel and Rashida Jones are also great.

This also looks really great. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of my favorites and I love that he and Seth Rogan are buddies in this. Seems like they'll make a funny pair.

When I was thinking about which trailers I'd like to share I was a little worried I'd be bombarding you all with a million little videos that no one would actually watch. But turns out, of all of the upcoming movies on my 'movies to watch' list these were the only two that trailers have been released for. 

Fun fact: both of these movies had title changes. '50/50' started out as 'Live With It' and 'Our Idiot Brother' was originally 'My Idiot Brother'

Film Fest Vol. 5

Away We Go

Away We Go is the story of an expecting thirty-something couple trying to find their home. We follow Burt (John Krasinski) and Verona (Maya Rudolph) on their quest to decide which city is for their little family based on who they know there. Along the trip we meet so many well developed and unique characters -- which is especially neat considering the short amount of time we spend with them!

We meet their hilarious, quirky, outrageous, sad, heartbreaking friends and family. I love that there are so many wonderful actors in this film even only for a short while such as Jeff Daniels, Catherine O'Hara, Jim Gaffigan, Allison Janney, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Paul Schneider to name a few. 

It is a really fantastic film filled with both laughs and heartbreak, but leaves you with a great feeling of hope. The soundtrack filled with Alexi Murdoch's beautiful music also helps!
