on the menu

Rickey and I are kicking off the new year right and working on planning healthy meals. We go to the farmers market every week, but never with a plan. On Saturday we went with a list, checked everything off and are totally prepared for this week! I am one of the pickiest people ever, but I am challenging myself to try all kinds of new things. I am so excited about this for so many reasons!

Last night we had the quinoa stuffed bell peppers. They were sooo good! We grabbed some spicy quinoa at the market, made our own spicy salsa and enjoyed a meal that was totally new to us!

Do you have any healthy recipe suggestions?

Yum!

Yesterday after working a 12 hour overnight shift, getting a few hours of sleep, then doing a bunch of running around I came home to a brand new (and more importantly) working oven! With the change in season I've really been wanting to do some baking, but that has been impossible until now! Hopefully this weekend will be a different story that is to be filled with breads, muffins and other yummy goodies like these! Most being of the pumpkin variety.
I am most excited about making those baked pumpkin spice donuts, they sound so good! But also, how super cute is that pumpkin cake? Is there anything you're looking forward to baking?

These along with links to the recipes can all be found here.

Bluth Bananas

I've been re-watching Arrested Development for the last couple of weeks. I've been pacing myself and trying to make it last as long as possible. What ever happened to them making a movie?! Last night I decided to make some chocolate bananas in the style of the Bluth Banana Stand.
It was super simple.

1. I gathered bananas, chocolate and cream.
2. Cut the chocolate up so that it would melt faster.
3. Started heating the cream and added the chocolate. Stirred until it was creamy.
4. Dipped the bananas
5. Put them in the freezer

They're pretty messy looking, but I'm hoping they taste better than they look!

Busy Bee

Thanks to my new found love of tomatoes, here is a yummy dinner I made for us the other night.
Fried tomato sandwiches.
With yellow and red tomatoes, cheese, spinach, bacon and jalapenos. So good!

Sorry for the lack of personal posts lately (well lack of posts in general, i guess). I have been such a busy bee, but not really in a good, productive way unfortunately. I have been working like crazy. And last week while riding his bike to work, Rickey got hit by a car! So, needless to say I lost my shop workday and day off to the hospital and taking care of him. He's doing fine though, so that's really good.

I've been coming up with ideas for the shop left and right, but haven't time to pursue many of them. That really stinks! I keep being afraid that I'll forget something I want to do, but luckily I've written everything down. Maybe if I share the things I need to work on it'll really get me going.

-make candles
-make pillows
-work on dresses
-work on shop freebies

There we go! I should probably get to work!

P.S. Some items I just added to the shop! It's been a while since I've added any new accessories. When thrifting I usually head right for the shoe section, then the dresses. By then I've probably already gathered more things than I should be spending money on and not even think to look in the jewelry cases. Last time I DID think to check it out and found some of these cuties that you can check out in the shop right now!

I have also added a few things to the SUMMER SALE. So be sure to check it out!!

We're supposed to get the new season of The Office in at work today, so I think I'll be heading up there to get that! Do you guys have any fun plans for the day??
