Christmas Gift Roundup.

I hope you all had a great Christmas and got everything you wanted! Mine was really nice, filled with family, friends, yummy food and awesome gifts. These are some of my favorites. I'm so happy that season 4 of Boy Meets World was FINALLY released! I'm looking forward to reading my new book and watching so much fun Michel Gondry footage (he's the coolest)! The Diana Mini is just about the cutest thing I've ever seen, but I'm still working on figuring it out all the way. I got a total of 4 pairs of shoes this year (one was a gift to and from myself) and only one of them is impractical! I don't know what's up with me being so attracted to crazy-tall, impractical shoes lately. My crafty Mom also built me an extra long clothes rack for all of my shop stuff! Then of course I was loaded up with enough candy to last me until next Christmas.
Christmas night Rickey and I met up with some friends to go sledding and I got to try out my new camera while we hung out by the bonfire and chatted. The two of us rode down Webster's infamous 'Suicide Hill' on my little sister's inflatable tube sled and crashed. I somehow hurt my lower back and ended up making my final landing on my face while Rickey managed to jam his thumb pretty bad. Once we finally made it up to the top of the hill we were greeted with everyone's comments of how terrible it looked. The next day I wound up calling in to work due to my sledding accident. I know it sounds ridiculous, but it hurt so bad, every time I moved.
I'm feeling much better now, just a little sore and a couple small scrapes left on my face. I've been enjoying this season, maybe too much. It's definitely time to get back to work on the shop! I've really been missing it lately. So expect updates next week!
How was everyone's Christmas? What did you get?!

Happy Birthday To Me!!

Finally I got a hold of the pictures from my birthday and am happy to get to share them with you all! It was a fun night. A few of us went out to a couple bars in Maplewood. We started out at Boogaloo. It's a Cuban restaurant that has wooden swings at their bar! It's so neat! Then we headed to Las Palmas--the best stop of the night. We sipped on margaritas and listened to funny karaoke a few friends even participated. My boyfriend, Rickey, got up there and sang 'Sweet Caroline'. After that we headed to Cusamano's since it was the last place around that was still open. There wasn't any picture taking going on there because a friend dropped the camera and it was out of order for a little bit, plus it was a VERY sketchy place. Kinda creepy. It was a really fun night and I'm happy to finally be 21! Rickey's 21st is two weeks from today, so that should be another fun-filled night!

Tim Kasher

Wednesday night Rickey and I braved the crazy snow and ice to go see Tim Kasher at Off Broadway. Tim Kasher, frontman of Cursive and The Good Life is one of the coolest guys around! Cursive has been my favorite band for the last 5 years (wow! that's longer than I realized!) Sophomore year of high school my best friend discovered and fell in love with Bright Eyes. I'll never forget us going to Vintage Vinyl and her picking up their cd. On the way home she was looking through the cd booklet and told me she didn't think I would like them because there were so many people in the band. Haha, weird assumption to make, right? I never understood that. But I did prove her wrong and enjoy the music of Bright Eyes. After that we decided to check out more of the music on the Saddle Creek record label. That's where I discovered Cursive! (Among others like Rilo Kiley!) And we've been in love ever since.

Before going to the show the other night I did some googling to see what his set list would be like. From all of the lists I found it looked like he'd play almost all of his new album and then either one Cursive or one Good Life song. That seemed cool, but I was hoping for more oldies. Much to my surprise he played a couple songs from both bands plus his new stuff. It was such an awesome show!

I'm not usually into sticking around to talk to the musicians after they've played. I never know what I would say or what I would do, but it just sort of happened this time, thanks to all of the PBR's I was sipping on. I excitedly and nervously walked over to him told him I love him, he's awesome, asked why Cursive wasn't coming to St. Louis for the Domestica anniversary show and finally what happened to Gretta, the cellist (that hasn't been in the band for like 4 years! What was I thinking??!) OH! And I hugged him! It's so weird to meet someone you admire, even though I said something sort of silly I'm still glad I did it!

If you guys haven't heard any of his work yet I HIGHLY recommend it.
Of course I didn't have a camera and didn't get any photos of the night, but there are some I found so you could see his cute face.
Have you guys ever met someone you really admire? Tell me about it!

P.S. Thanks so much for the sweet words about blogging more! I'm really hoping that after the new year work will slow down and I won't have to be there quite as much meaning more time to be here.

Lucky Finds!

I was really dreading working a Saturday at the mall in December yesterday. I knew I would be cleaning up after crazy, messy ridiculous shoppers all day and missing out on some "HUGE vintage sale" invite from my friend, Hannah. It turned out to be super slow at work and there was no merchandising work to be done, so I was just kind of wandering around the store until I was let go early. Just in time to meet up with friends and head out to that vintage sale! It must have been some kind of Christmas miracle! We got there with half an hour left to shop around!
I picked up a few dresses, an adorable ruffled slip, a cute beaded sweater and a few blouses. When I got home and started going through it I kind of wanted to keep it all for myself. It must have been the businesswoman in me (or maybe just the practical part of me) that knew I had to sell some of it! So, everything I've decided I can part with will be added to the shop this week!
I'm making it a New Year's resolution of mine to be a better blogger. I always enjoy blogging, I just never have the time, or when I do I don't know what to write about at the time. So, I'm making lists of topics and planning posts because I don't want to blog only to tell you about what I'm putting in my shop! Hopefully I'll be sharing some of my birthday pictures with you all this week!

found photo

Our one and only Halloween costume picture was just recently posted on Facebook so I thought I'd share. We went as the Blues Brothers to a friends party the weekend before Halloween. Then our real costume on Halloween was The Dude and Maude Lebowski. That costume was great, I wish my camera wouldn't have died!
