fun fact friday vol. 2

I've only met one other blogger before.
It was quite a while back. One day at work I was working the fitting room taking people's things and getting them into rooms. Then all of a sudden there was a familiar face in my line, just waiting to be helped. I was shocked, a little confused and almost starstruck. With it being really busy at the time I just quickly helped her into her room. Then I was like 'I'm being crazy, I should just say hi and tell her I like her work.' So, when she returned the items she didn't want I (was pretty sure I) sounded like a huge creep and said something along the lines of 'I just wanted to let you know that I know you're Blooming Leopold and I really love your blog!' Luckily she didn't act like she thought I was a weirdo and was perfectly nice and sweet about it!

Print Peeks

Here are some sneak peeks of all of the wonderful things I've thrifted in the past week. There is so much going on! Polka dots, floral, geometrical, ikat, paisley, stripes and pleats! Lots of pretty details! I can't wait to get them all into the shop (and maybe a few of them into my own closet)!

Also, I'd like to give a big thank you (!!) to all of the new readers around here! It's so nice to have you and to get some feedback from you too! I think it may be about time to do my first giveaway soon..?

Really looking forward to...

Ah! I am so excited for this one! I LOVE Paul Rudd and it looks hilarious!
Plus Zooey Deschanel and Rashida Jones are also great.
This also looks really great. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of my favorites and I love that he and Seth Rogan are buddies in this. Seems like they'll make a funny pair.

When I was thinking about which trailers I'd like to share I was a little worried I'd be bombarding you all with a million little videos that no one would actually watch. But turns out, of all of the upcoming movies on my 'movies to watch' list these were the only two that trailers have been released for.

Fun fact: both of these movies had title changes. '50/50' started out as 'Live With It' and 'Our Idiot Brother' was originally 'My Idiot Brother'

What are you looking forward to seeing?

Shop Spotlight

When starting this Shop Spotlight feature I had not really intended on featuring vintage shops, but more of the handmade shops selling really unique products. But for Lisa Zain's shop I can make an exception. It blows my mind how one lady can get so lucky always finding such great shoes! When I'm thrifting I always find that shoes are one of the trickier pieces to be on the lookout for and I rarely come across such wonderful pairs.
Her shop is always fully stocked with a wide range of adorable footwear choices and she is also selling the cutest little clothing pieces for babies now too! These are some of my favorite pieces in her shop. I actually have the same pair of heeled clogs (above) in my shop right now!

What are some of your favorite Etsy shops?

Saturday

Saturday was a good day. We slept in, got lunch at one of our favorite spots, Blues City Deli, stopped by a farmer's market, did some craft shopping, Rickey cooked dinner while I made some notebooks and then we played some Scattergories and Taboo with friends.
This is one of the new dresses I got while I was in Florida and it has quickly become one of my favorites. It just has the perfect cut and fit, and you can't see it, but it also has a fun criss-cross back.
With taking more and more outfit photos Rickey is becoming quite the photographer. He was setting up poses, telling me where to go and which way to look. It definitely makes it less awkward to have pictures taken with some direction. I think I'm finally starting to get used to it.
Outfit Details
Dress: Francesca's Collections
Necklace: Forever 21

fun fact friday vol. 1

I am excited to announce a new feature here! Fun Fact Friday! So, here it goes!

I love cats. Cats and cat themed things, funny cat pictures, you name it. But I've only ever had one cat and for only a short amount of time. One day at our old apartment that I shared with my boyfriend, Rickey and best friend, Mary Kate, this adorable stray cat ran inside and up the stairs while we had the front door open. She checked the place out and little bit and then proceeded to nap for a couple of days. Since she was so cute and didn't already have a home we decided to keep her and name her Bosley. Everyone loved her, she was such a hit with all of our friends that came over. And she took the goofiest pictures, i love the one at the top, she looks drunk. haha.

Bearcat

This past weekend Rickey and I rounded up some friends and headed down to Bearcat Getaway for a weekend of camping and canoeing. I took a disposable camera with me, but somehow didn't use it all up. So, as soon as I get those photos back I'll be sure to share some on here. I know there will be some funny ones. Here I am with my friends Sara and Lindsey with one of the infamous Bearcat coolie cups. We started a trend buying them as soon as we arrived and after a couple hours everyone in our party had gotten themselves one. They were a big deal. If Sara sees this picture I will for sure be getting yelled at for not wearing it, just holding it. Whoops.

P.S. I am now sponsoring Lulu Letty. So head on over to check out Maria's sponsor spotlight post!

Belle Ete

Yet another beautiful work of art by Anja. Her blog has been one of my long-time favorites and when she posted these photos (that she styled and photographed) last week I knew I had to share them! She is always creating wonderful soft and dreamy images. So, if you don't already read her blog that's filled with pretty and inspiring pictures, as well as lots of Portland goodness I would recommend that you do so now!
AND, is that little black cat tattoo not the cutest thing ever?!

JB Park

This is what I wore yesterday to do some running around with Rickey to get everything we need for this weekend's float trip. I am so excited that this is finally happening, I feel like I've been waiting for far too long! This week I have been really busy with work and other stuff and haven't had much blog/shop time and unfortunately, it looks like next week will be the same way (except for weirder since I'm working overnights all week). But I am working on collecting a bunch of pieces and doing a larger update than usual. I have several super cute summer pieces left to add to the shop and some great fall items that I've been holding onto for a while now.

This outfit is entirely thrifted except for my bag that I got at Michael's and ironed on the design. I got these huaraches last week and I haven't taken them off since! I had been searching for months for a pair of these sandals for myself and finally found some! They are so comfy and great for everyday wear.
If you've been reading for a while now you may have read my Shopper's Guilt post. Well, today at work we got the most perfect fall cardigans. I was so excited as soon as I opened the box and saw the colors. So, despite my usual guilty feeling when it comes to new clothing purchases, I realized that the sweater I was wearing at the time is probably 3 or 4 years old by now. And since my work requires me to cover my tattoos cardigans are kind of a big staple in my work wardrobe. So I considered it an investment and got 3 of them -- rust, mustard and taupe. I'm sure you'll be seeing plenty of them around here in the coming months.
Even though I've been busy it's been a really good and really fast week. I am so excited to finish it up with a big friends float trip! Do you guys have any fun plans for this weekend?

Things Organized Neatly

I still haven't gotten a Tumblr and I don't really think I should. Not because it isn't really awesome, but maybe because it's too awesome. I have clicked on links that took me to people's tumblrs and have spent way too much time there admiring  all of the wonderful images. Things Organized Neatly is one of those ones filled with really great, inspiring photos! Here are some of my favorites.

Film Fest Vol. 5

Away We Go
Away We Go is the story of an expecting thirty-something couple trying to find their home. We follow Burt (John Krasinski) and Verona (Maya Rudolph) on their quest to decide which city is for their little family based on who they know there. Along the trip we meet so many well developed and unique characters -- which is especially neat considering the short amount of time we spend with them!
We meet their hilarious, quirky, outrageous, sad, heartbreaking friends and family. I love that there are so many wonderful actors in this film even only for a short while such as Jeff Daniels, Catherine O'Hara, Jim Gaffigan, Allison Janney, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Paul Schneider to name a few.
It is a really fantastic film filled with both laughs and heartbreak, but leaves you with a great feeling of hope. The soundtrack filled with Alexi Murdoch's beautiful music also helps!
