2011's Greatest Hits

Some of my favorite posts from 2011...
Some cute girls in Maggie's Farm Vintage showing appreciation!
All year I've been dreaming about decorating and collecting all kinds of images of inspiring spaces.
A super fun and friend filled  St. Patrick's Day celebration!
I introduced Film Fest, an ongoing blog feature based on all things film related.
I completed the first round of 30 days of Lists and then some of my own.
Kid Crushes was one of my favorites, featuring all of my biggest childhood crushes!
My post about what I like to call "Shopper's Guilt" made me glad to hear other people feel the same way I do.
There were more outfits featured on this blog than the previous year!
Fun Fact Friday is another feature introduced in 2011.
The first post of many details around our new home.
Shop Spotlight was another feature I added this year to share some of my favorite Etsy shops.
The One with the Lists was another collection of celebrity crushes.
I also started a weekly wardrobe Challenge!

I really can't believe that 2011 is already coming to an end! It has flown by way too fast!
I had plans to do a few new years themed posts this week, but I think most of them will be popping up after the new year. Stay tuned!

These past few weeks have been insane. I have been swamped with work, birthdays, holiday get-togethers and even more craziness at work. I love this time of year, but at this point I am really looking forward things slowing down for a little bit.

In all of this craziness I never got around to showing off our Christmas tree (or doing much of anything Christmas themed really)! This was the only photo I had taken of it, so it'll have to do. This was my first real tree ever and it was pretty great. We had a really nice Christmas and hope you did too!

I'll be back tomorrow for the first of a couple of new years posts!

Film Fest Vol. 7 Christmas Edition

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is watching all of my favorite Christmas movies. This is the first year in a while that I haven't been working at Blockbuster. Even though I was only working there part time I would always find a way to squeeze 3 or 4 of my favorite holiday movies into my one shift each week. So, this year it's kind of a bummer to not have such easy access all of these movies (come on Netflix!)
These 4 have to be my all time favorites and so far we've only watched Home Alone, hopefully we'll find time for a couple more before Christmas! I really haven't seen many classics (I still have never seen It's A Wonderful Life), maybe next year!

What are your favorite holiday movies?

makin' a list

christmas wish list

christmas wish list by maggiesfarm

I really should have made a Christmas list several weeks ago. That probably would have made it easier when all of those relatives asked what I wanted. But, instead I said "Um, I don't know." BUT I am pretty sure I am (finally!) getting a new record player! I would also really like a new phone, a wallet, some records, shoes and anything blanket striped! You know, just in case you were wondering. :)

What do you really want for Christmas?

Kind of a mash up of things I'm liking, things I'm loving and things I'm looking forward to.
The trailer for Five Year Engagement is finally out! I've been looking forward to this one, and you know, everything Jason Segel does.
I just discovered the Handmade Ryan Gosling tumblr last night. Seriously hilarious! He totally gets what I go through as an Etsy seller. haha.
I also just found out the other day that not only is Ben Kweller's new album coming out in February, but he is also coming back to St. Louis and playing at Off Broadway in March!
Getting ready for some Christmas cookie baking this coming week!
This cute little stool would be so simple to make yourself! I really just want to get a million of those cute little mid century style furniture legs and put them on everything!
Less than one month until I finally get a new phone! I'm pretty sure I'll get an iphone, even if it's mostly for the plethora of awesome cases out there! I don't know how I'll ever decide!

In other news: this week's challenge -- while not being able to show anything for it, has been very productive. I only wore the dress that I picked out for this week, but decided that I should get rid of all three pieces! Feels good to make some room for some new stuff that I'll actually wear (or maybe just some more polka dots. just kidding... maybe)

I hope you all have a great weekend!

True Life: I'm a Polka Dot Addict

Black and white, red and white, navy and white, brown and white, pastels, multi color and my current favorite black and tan. I am a polka dot hoarder. And this isn't it, I've got more. Some in the laundry and a couple that I recently added to my shop. Somehow they're all shirts, not one single dress, and the only polka dot skirt I own will be heading to the shop soon. I don't know how I've ended up with so many. I think I must just grab every one I see any time I'm at a thrift store.
Do you have a favorite print or style that's taking over your wardrobe?

shop update preview

A shop update! A few of these goodies are already in the shop and the rest are on their way! I spent last night rearranging my studio, so today I'll be busy in there sewing, photographing and doing lots of listing.

I'm excited to get some of these super cute dresses into the shop. The other day I found the most amazing coat I have ever seen, but I think we'll be parting ways and it'll be heading to the shop. I'm not positive yet, it's a pretty tough decision. Do any other vintage sellers have a hard time selling some pieces? I feel like I've been snatching too many shop pieces lately, so to balance things out a couple of these new items are from my own closet.

list 04.

So, do you remember the 30 days of lists project that I had been working on about a million years ago (or last Spring)? Well, that was the first round. Back in September the group released the second round and I signed up right away. And of course, I am just getting started now.

Challenge Accepted week 2

Hello! I hope you guys have had a nice weekend! I just can't believe how quickly each weekend seems to fly by. Yesterday was kind of a lazy day, but today I've taken photos of some really great stuff that'll be headed to the shop over the next couple days, I've done some cleaning around the apartment and I have a few more projects for this evening.

These are the pieces for this week's wardrobe challenge.
It's been so long since I've worn any of these items, so I'm hoping to give up at least one!

same place, different day

Mission accomplished! I have now worn 4 of my challenge pieces and decided to get rid of the last piece! Sorry the color is way off, we don't have any overhead lighting in this room and lamps make for some funny lighting.

This cardigan is one of my new favorites. The rusty color is perfect and I kind of want to wear it everyday. The skirt is another piece that I bought for the shop, but decided I liked it too much to part with it. I've got to stop doing that!

I think I need to make this wardrobe challenge a regular thing!

two and three

Man, I am really looking forward to it being light outside by the time I get home from work!

These are pieces two and three of my challenge for the week. I think I may have to do this every week. It makes getting ready for work in the morning a lot easier, knowing at least one thing that I am definitely wearing. This sweater was a birthday gift from a friend that I hadn't worn yet. I really like it, it's super comfy and warm, the only bummer about it is that the large knit kept getting snagged on stuff at work. The shoes are some that I picked up at a thrift store a while back and hadn't worn them much. They may not look like much, but they sure are comfortable! And finally, the dress is one that I had purchased for the shop, but ended up keeping for myself instead.

Tonight is for cleaning up, putting up Christmas decorations and reading blogs. It should be a nice night. Is anyone as behind as we are on putting up Christmas decorations?

First of all, I apologize for the crappy picture and for the fact that this is probably pretty similar to how they'll look for a little bit (thanks to such early darkness and its effect on my camera). Anyway, here is the first piece for this week's challenge. I love the colors and cut of this polka dot top and have decided that this one is definitely a keeper! I also really like this skirt (and its green twin too) and this sweater has been a pretty solid staple in my wardrobe for the past couple of months.

Now we're off to finally get a christmas tree! I can't wait to get home and get decorating!

Challenge Accepted

I'm kind of a pack rat when it comes to some things and thrifting only makes collecting and keeping things even easier. I have a rolling rack, a stuffed dresser and a couple of piles of clothes and I probably wear less than 1/4 of them on a regular basis.

So, I've picked out 5 pieces and am challenging myself to wear them this week. Hopefully this will serve as either a reminder why I've kept each piece or help me get rid of a few things that are taking up space in my wardrobe.

Have you ever seen anything as neat as Brinja's miniature replica of her own home? Everything is so adorably tiny and incredibly detailed! It's amazing! Her blog is filled with great photography of her home, her shop and her cute family! Take a look!

a blur

This is what November looked like. Just a blur.
Can you really believe that today is December 1st?

In November I...
turned 22
worked a lot
hit 230+ sales in the shop
spent too much time with Netflix

That's really how fast it went, those were the only things I had time to do! hah. But really, I just hope things slow down a little and we all have some time to enjoy the holidays.
