See Ya, August

How is it possible that today is the last day of August? Didn't this month just start yesterday? I think August has to be the month that always flies by the fastest.  I wasn't even going to bother with outfit photos today because I had just thrown on this boring old outfit on this morning to run some errands, but I figured, why not? I do wear stuff like this some days so I might as well share it even if it's not my proudest outfit.
I got this shirt a little while back and really love it. There is something about those type of sleeves that I always fall in love with. Do they have a name? The jeans on the other hand, are not my favorite. I usually find the perfect pair of jeans and buy the same kind over and over again until I can't find them anymore. For the past 2 years it has been this style from Pac Sun. They usually have some kind of 2 for $60 deal going on and I always buy the black ( they are the perfect ones!) but sometimes feel a little daring and try something else for the second pair. Most of the time that second different pair sits around with the tags still on while I wear the black pants to their death, but since I seem to have already packed the black ones away I opted for these dark denim ones today. Do you have the perfect pair of jeans? Does anyone know where I can find some great high waisted skinny jeans?

Film Fest Vol. 6 TV Edition

United States of Tara
United States of Tara is such a great show filled with drama, laughs here and there and so much craziness. Toni Collette plays Tara Gregson, a woman suffering from dissociative identity disorder dealing with her disease day to day.
Tara's original alters include Buck the badass Vietnam vet, Alice the 50's housewife and T the wild teen. Some of the others she picks up throughout the series include a therapist, an animal-like personality and a child among a couple others. It's always interesting to see what they get Tara into.
I just finished season 3 and was so excited for season 4. I went to check and see when it was starting, but instead found out that the show has been canceled. I have read a little bit about how ratings have been down recently and how people just didn't think the show was funny. But really, this show isn't funny. It's not supposed to be, at least not directly. Even though I'm a little bummed that it has ended at least the season came to a fair and reasonable ending, no cliffhangers!

Lately.

A peek into what has been keeping me so busy this past week. I've been such a bad blogger, (sorry for boring you all with some of these lame posts) and just let some of my blog plans for last week just slip away. But I guess that's necessary sometimes.

Saturday was a day to be dedicated to finally finding some furniture. As we were heading from one garage sale to another my car started making an weird noise and suddenly died. Worst timing ever! It was towed and hopefully I will find out what the deal is today. I am just hoping so badly that it isn't anything too serious. After a long walk and a stop for lunch we were still able to head out to some thrift stores. I guess after what had happened earlier we deserved some good luck, at the first place we found a couch and a chair and at the second a coffee table. Living room complete! All of this was followed by dinner and Our Idiot Brother, which I highly recommend!

This week will be filled with work, more gathering stuff for the new place and hopefully I'll find some time to add some items to the shop! I can't wait to get settled into our new home and get everything back in order!

mending mountain

I'm sure most of you Etsy shop owners have a 'to mend' pile. I had one. Then I started another and another. Now when they're all combined (and waiting to be washed) I have a 'to mend' mountain. I think I need to set a goal of working on these items before going thrifting for a little while!

Also, sorry for the blurry picture. My camera let me get 3 not so great shots before it died.

Decorating Crazy : Living Room Edition

We'll be moving in 3 weeks. That's not much time and there's still a lot to do. With all of the difficulty finding furniture and a major breakthrough I discovered the other night I think there is a good possibility of some handmade furniture in this new home of ours! I have a few ideas up my sleeve that I can't wait to pursue!

Vintage, rustic, industrial styles, greenery, mixing patterns, lots of furniture feet, organization, fun wall art, simple white, pops of color, vintage design and detail and natural light are all things that are inspiring and especially eye-catching for me lately.

All images can be found on my pinboards.
If any of you have a Pinterest let me know, I'd love to follow you and see your pins!

fun fact friday vol. 4

On how I stumbled into the blog world.

A little over 2 years ago I was over at my family's house doing laundry and using their computer. I was Googling 'Zooey Deschanel hair' when I found a photo of some other cute girl with awesome hair that was not Zooey, but in fact Rhiannon instead. I looked through this 'thing' (I was pretty unaware of blogs at the time) of hers and was kind of in awe. 'Wait, this girl wears really cute clothes and takes pictures of them and people read/look at it?' and then, 'she makes a living selling vintage clothing online?? that's so cool!' I then took the next couple of days to read her entire blog and was so inspired by this new discovery. I found that there were a ton of other super cool and adorable girls out there doing the same thing! I started reading a few other blogs and really wanted to be part of that world. I had already been shopping at thrift stores and altering clothing for myself and thought that having my own shop would also be the greatest thing ever! So after a couple of months I decided that I would go for it! I started my blog and opened my shop and have been loving it ever since!

How did you get into the world of blogging? Did you kind of just stumble upon it like I did? I'd love to hear your story!

The Hunt is On.

Well, first of all, I wish I would have noticed that my sleeve was sticking out of my sweater before walking out the door to take these. So just ignore that please. You will probably also notice that I don't look thrilled to be taking these or even that I am not so great at hiding the camera remote.
But thats what you'll get after the morning I've had. So we found a new place, a townhome/apartment and (you already know if you read this post) I am so excited about furniture and decorating. Now this starts the furniture hunting, because it's much more like hunting than shopping. Last night we went to 4 different thrift stores and found nothing. I went to 3 other ones today and still nothing. I went in looking for furniture and all I came out with were 2 dresses and a fondue pot. The annoying thing is that whenever I'm not in the market for furniture it's everywhere! I remember finding an incredible 60's hutch for $30 a few years ago and I don't think I will ever stop kicking myself for not getting it (plus a storage space to keep it in). I am really hoping that our luck turns around and we start finding some good stuff for our new home.
This dress is a funny piece. I had decided that it's too short to wear without tights a while back. Then I tried it on again recently and decided it was probably okay to wear without them and went for it. I think I was wrong, it's pretty short. After today that dress is once again part of my 'only with tights' collection. The top is one of my favorite pieces. I've had it for 5 or 6 years now and wear it so many different ways. The collar and ascot make it so perfect to wear underneath just about anything! Do you guys have any staples like that in your wardrobe? They are just so helpful and versatile!

I've Got the Blues

The newest few listings in my shop right now, all those blues! I love how they all look and fit together so nicely, I almost don't even want to add anymore for a bit to not switch up this color story. But I will. There are actually a few up there that are from my own closet, some that even though I rarely wear I was a little iffy about adding them. When I have those feelings though it's always nice to remember that eventually someone else who also loves it will buy it and wear it more than I ever did!

No worries though, new shoes coming today!

Office Space part 2

No Fun Fact Friday today. Instead I'm sharing one of the few things that has been on my mind lately. Ever since moving out again has been in talks I have been planning what my workspace will look like. Now, this isn't the first I've done this and it may not even be my last! :)

I am being drawn in by the simplicity of white walls. I've been swooning for all of the industrial lighting, the makeshift sawhorse desks and above all else the tidiness and organization of it all! I cannot wait to have my own little space again, whether it be in an extra bedroom, or just my own corner of the dining room. I am on the hunt for all kinds of containers, bins, etc. to give each item their own home. I can't wait!

You can find all of these images and their sources, along with a bunch of other inspiring photos on my Office Space board.

P.S. I am also having a giveaway over at the Lulu Letty blog! Check it out and enter for your chance to win a $25 credit to my shop!

mint, peach & new glasses

Here's what I wore to work on Tuesday. I'd been dying for some new glasses and it'd been a good 4 years since I'd had an eye exam. So, I finally went a few weeks back and now I have some new glasses that I love! I think that the shape and size of these ones are much more flattering than any other pair of glasses I've owned.
After work I ran by the post office to send out an order and then headed over to a friend's house. I mostly just hung out and chit-chatted while she made the most delicious (and dangerous) looking devil's food, fudge and oreo cake I've ever seen.
Luckily I got home just in time before the sun went down to snap these photos. I picked this dress up at a thrift store the other day and immediately fell in love with the colors, but it wasn't until I got home and tried it on that I noticed those wonderful huge buttons and perfect sleeves! It also wasn't until I got to work yesterday morning that I noticed it is a little bit small in the chest area. I spent most of my day in fear that one of those buttons would pop off and be lost forever! So, unfortunately for me, but luckily for some other lady out there this one will be making its way into the shop later this week.

Dress, shoes & belt: all thrifted

I also want to thank anyone who has ever bought from my shop, or even just taken a look for that matter! Over the weekend it hit 200 sales (and now up to 204!!) and it is such an awesome feeling! I am so thankful for all of my customers! :)

bikes + babes

I'm sure some of you have seen Erin from Calivintage newest blog, bikes + babes. It's filled with photos of cute girls and their cute bikes and serves as a great inspiration to just hop on your bike! This Summer I really wanted to ride my bike a whole lot more and seeing these pictures is just a reminder. With the weather beginning to cool down in the next few weeks I will definitely have to start riding a bunch more. I can't believe that I haven't even shared my road bike that I got last Summer with you guys yet! I better get to it!
