Fiending Fun

Come on school! Get outta here so I can do more of this stuff! Like hang out with friends, go swimming, get back to working on my shop, start making some more money and just having fun! Plus I have some fun ideas brewing for some stuff around here once I'm free again.
I know I keep popping up around here once a week to talk about how much I have to do, how much school stinks and stuff like that, but its getting sooo close now. I have a total of 4 class days left, one full day of finals and then one final after that. Even though it seems like every day lately another project pops up out of the blue I'm trying to stay positive and just knock it all out!

photo from a day spent at a river last summer filled with friends and fun.

P.S. Today's Groupon deal was for a stay at the haunted hotel at this river, which may or may not be that building right behind us. After reading about the haunting I'm not sure I want to go swimming/camping here again. Yikes!

Kid Crushes.

Leigh-Ann over at Freckled Nest recently blogged about her childhood crushes. I thought it was a pretty cool post so I decided to share a few of my own.
Heath Ledger is my favorite man of all time. I fell in love with him from the moment I first saw him in 10 Things I Hate About You.
Devon Sawa was a total hottie in Now and Then, Casper and Wild America.
I was a total Backstreet Boys fan (and anti Nsync) but Nick Carter was always my favorite. He was always first, then Brian and then A.J. I wasn't too into Kevin or Howie.
Paul Rudd was adorable in Clueless. I always thought Cher was so silly for looking right passed him so I should have gotten him instead.
Rider Strong was a huge hottie on Boy Meets World (aka the greatest show of all time). That hair definitely made up for his lack of smarts!
Jonathan Taylor Thomas was another favorite, I watched Home Improvement just for him. I also had an awesome JTT calender that was a pretty prized possession of mine.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt was an unordinary cutie in 3rd Rock from the Sun with his long locks, but then cleaned up very nicely in 10 Things I Hate About You and was so adorable! (And still is to this day) David Krumholtz is pretty cute too.

I think its funny that I still have a crush on some of these men almost close to 10 years later.
Who were some of your childhood crushes?

FBC!

Here are a few pictures I snatched from the FBC blog (of some people I don't know) from Sunday night's Aprilween ride. We didn't make it into any of their pictures, but I once again made sure to bring along a disposable camera and get some pictures of our little group. I'm actually really surprised that the camera lasted the whole night and made it back home with me, it was a very eventful night that you'll hear all about when I get my pictures back.
There were some pretty awesome costumes on the ride. I think my favorite was PeeWee Herman. I didn't get to take a picture of him, but he was in the gray suit with all of the details right down to the red cruiser! Another funny one was Santa (above) who was riding some super crazy double decker bike! In the picture below you can kind of see that it was a really big crowd, a couple hundred probably!
I tweeted this picture right before we left, just a sneak peak at my costume.
I can't wait to get my pictures back and share!

I hope you guys are all having a great week!!

My Sad Shop

I'm really feeling sorry for my shop right about now. The number of items for sale is slowly dwindling down each day and so are the number of sales. I've decided that I hate school. haha. But really, I've been spending most of my time doing school work or thinking about how much I really don't want to do school work (mostly the second). I have at least 4 huge piles of clothes that need work before entering the shop and one big pile that is ready to go in. But this is also a really inconvenient time to find a model seeing as how most of the possibilities are in the same school slump as I am right now. So I suppose the shop will just continue to dwindle down for the next few weeks until school is out and it will then start filling up with beautiful new pieces! I am really excited about some of the items that are waiting to go in and some of the new ideas I have for alterations! I will of course still be sending out any orders that are made, I just won't be adding anything new.

On another note, this Sunday is the April FBC ride. The theme is Aprilween and a few of us wanted to go with group costume, but cannot come up with any great ideas. Do you guys have any suggestions? They would be a great help!

30 days of lists part 5

As I'm sure you all know I'm still way behind on the 30 days of lists project (it's been over for a couple weeks now) but here are my lists 18-21.
 18.
 19.
20.
21.

This past weekend was filled with mostly homework and laziness. I think that was about it. Then yesterday Rickey and I decided to go for a bike ride over to Cherokee Street. We had lunch at a little Mexican restaurant and then walked around and went into a few vintage shops. On our ride back home I got pooped on by a bird! All over me. My head, sweater, shirt and pants. Gross! Apparently that is good luck though..? So I'm hoping for some good luck with all of this school stuff that needs to be taken care of in the next couple weeks!

04.08.2011

These pictures are from Friday afternoon when I planned to run a few errands and head back home to work on some homework, but it was way too beautiful out to spend the whole day inside. So Rickey and I got lunch at Blues City Deli and sat outside in the sun with some delicious sandwiches and tried out Schlafly's Summer Lager--very good! Then we headed over to Lafayette Park to take pictures. We hadn't been there before, but were both a little blown away by how wonderful it is! And we explored less than half of it, so I'm excited to go back and check out the rest soon!
I found both this shirt and skirt thrifting last week. I immediately fell in love with the adorable scallops, buttons and mint green color of the top. And I was debating hemming the skirt up, but I thought I'd try it at this length first. I'm still not sure which I'd like more. What do you think?
Thank you all so much for your input on my hair post. I've checked out the links you guys recommended and I'm going to get my hair cut today! This will be my first professional haircut (not done by myself or a friend) that I've had in 6 years I think! I'm planning to have it trimmed to get rid of the damage at the ends and add in some layers. I'm excited!

Film Fest Vol. 3

Milk is the story of the life and assassination of Harvey Milk, California's first openly gay elected official and gay rights activist. The film follows Milk's several political campaigns, gay rights events and all of the friends he makes along the way up until his tragic death. We get to know him as such a loving and passionate person that want to do so much good and help everyone he meets.
Milk was directed by Gus Van Sant. His films are always hit or miss for me--he has made some great movies, but also some of the worst ones I know of. It was written by Dustin Lance Black who won Best Screenplay. It also doesn't hurt that it features good looking men like Emile Hirsch, James Franco, Josh Brolin and Sean Penn!
It is full of powerful performances. I was completely blown away by Sean Penn's performance in which he makes Harvey Milk look like the sweetest man that ever lived. I was so glad that I knew before seeing the movie (it's not a spoiler) that he gets killed, if I hadn't it would have been a thousand times more heartbreaking! It is a very moving film, beware you may shed some tears, I know I did.
I was and still am upset that it didn't win Best Picture; I won't even begin to tell you how angry I was when Slumdog Millionaire won instead!

Hair Everywhere (but here)

I've been wanting and trying to grow my hair out for I don't know how long now, but it seems like it has just stopped growing. It's done. This makes seeing all of these pretty ladies with their lovely long locks even more annoying. How do they do it??! I just want long hair that I can put into a fishtail braid, ombre it, throw it into a big messy topknot and most of all wear down with curls at the ends. So why does it have to torture me and not grow instead?

Does anyone else have this same problem? Or better yet, a solution?!

My Mom, Style Icon

I've been following the My Mom, Style Icon blog for a little while now and it's such a neat idea! It's funny that you really don't think about your mom having a life or actually being cool before you were around and this is a good reminder! I'm excited that they've turned it into a book and can't wait to get my hands on a copy come May!
Just a little teaser of some of the goodies I've found thrifting this week! There are so many bright, Springy colors and I'm excited to get to work on them! Which I really hope to do soon. It is insane how quickly this year is already moving along. I just realized today that I only have 5 weeks of classes left, but about a million projects/assignments to be completed. So, hopefully I am able to find a way to get everything done while still blogging and keeping the shop stocked. Wish me luck, I'll need it!
